A day of Conscious Living

Conscious Living Day 2010 logoAnd what a day it was! Despite the rather un seasonal weather everybody who visited had a really good time. Everybody at Inspired Events would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everybody who made Conscious Living Day a success: our collaborators, The Wrekin Forum, guest speakers, Anna-Louise Haigh and Richard Cawte, NES Health who sponsored our film, "The Living Matrix", all the other contributors and our volunteers, who gave their time to ensure the whole day ran smoothly!

We've been touched by the messages of support we've received after the day:

‘What a fabulous venue and thank you for organising such an amazing day’ ‘Wonderful day – when is the next one?’ ‘Thank you – I feel so incredibly relaxed from the treatment I just had ….’ ‘Such astounding contribution from the exhibitors’ 'I've had a breakthrough experience and a day to remember. Thank you so much' 'It may have been cold outside but the warmth and loving energy everyone created was amazing'

Lucinda Drayton and Helen Cresswell of Inspired EventsLucinda Drayton mesmerises Bearwood

Bearwood's theatre was alight with the truly heaven sent talent of Lucinda Drayton in December, uplifting the audience with her mesmerising music. Along with the equally gifted musician Marcus Cliffe at her side, the performance transported us from the stresses and commercialism of this time of year and replenished our hearts with the true meaning of the celebration. Lucinda's exquisite vocals bathed the auditorium - and we were bathed with some lovely compliments:
"What a great night - thanks so much"
"Wow what a lovely evening, I had a fab time, big pat on the back"
"I just wanted to say to you it was fabulous on Friday I had a really great evening and well done to you both what you are doing is a brilliant job there looking forward to the events in 2010"

We extend our heart felt thanks to Lucinda for giving us such a perfect gift, and light-filled high, to conclude 2009.

William Meader's Ancient Wisdom
William Meader at Inspired Events

The Billiard Room at Bearwood College was alight with esoteric insights in November when William Meader joined us at the conclusion of his autumn Uk visit. William has a growing and dedicated following in the UK, and internationally, for his teaching of the Ancient Wisdom - drawn from the "golden thread of truth" found within the essence of all the great religious texts and philosophies - and he shared with us some thought provoking themes relating to the collective growth of humanity's consciousness. The content of his talk perfectly underpinned the themes of other presenters over recent months, highlighting the idea that evolution comes through crisis and how this is exactly where we find ourselves as a society right now.

Karen and Steve Alexander at Inspired EventsCircling around...

On a crisp, autumnal evening we were transported into the mysterious realm of Crop Circles with an enthralling presentation by Karen Alexander, supported by husband Steve's breathtaking images. Weaving together the history, geometry and philosophy behind the phenomenon Karen proposed fascinating scientific insights into their formation.

The real insight into the circles however comes not from analysing how they are created but from translating the message within them. Tracing the symbolism and increasing complexity of the formations, Karen opened our eyes to the subtlety and sophistication of their communication in terms of the acceleration of our collective consciousness.

We look forward to a return visit - by popular demand! - from Karen and Steve next year to present the developments anticipated in the 2010 season. In the meantime if you'd like to learn more, Karen's book "Crop Circles: Signs, wonders and mysteries" provides detailed interpretations - you can buy it from Amazon here (opens in a new window)

Jude Currivan at Inspired EventsLifting the lid on 2012

In September the wonderful Jude Currivan provided us with a highly stimulating evening on 2012 and the global consciousness shift as predicted in the Mayan calendar.

A highly articulate speaker, Jude enraptured the audience with her ability to weave such complex concepts as quantum physics and cosmology into 'laymans' terms. Enlightening, and entertaining, us she explained the changes we can expect to experience as well as preparing us for the unexpected too.

We will look forward to a return visit from Jude next year, with more unique insights into these extraordinary times.

Serenity in motion

The spirit of Zen filled the halls of Bearwood College on 7th September when Paul Haller, Ryushin Zendo, led an evening of insight and teachings. Creating a sacred space for the exchange, Nikki Slade (pictured with Paul and JC Mac of the Guildford Zen Centre) opened the evening with her extraordinary vocal talent raising the roof and the collective energy with a group chant.

Paul's presence generated deep curiosity from the audience and the perfect simplicity of his responses highlighted for us the futility of our unnecessarily complex westernised lives. This was Zen in it's true form - you're in the moment or you're not, you do it or you don't, it's as simple as that!

As Paul beautifully illustrated for us "When you are stuck in something, how can you move? Life is like a river, it flows into any shape. Don't separate life into sections, let it flow".

An issue many of us struggle with in our demanding lives is the need to control and how to give this up, releasing unnecessary attachment. We were reminded that our minds will tell us anything. Simply "trust" Paul said, and we can rise above control without fear or loss. After all, how can we lose what we don't really own?

The evening was over all too soon, time passing so quickly it almost seemed as if it didn't even happen at all.

A shared moment, then it was gone.

How very Zen...

Some en'chant'ed evening . . .

And it was! While some of the audience didn't know quite what they were in for, they embraced JC's invitation to open and close his presentation with an exquisite few moments of chanting. To the "uninitiated" it was a "surprisingly enjoyable experience" topped off with the mesmerising Tibetan singing bowl, with which JC gave an encore by popular request!

An evening of challenging perceptions, stimulating thought and above all great humour, could have continued for hours longer as we warmed to JC's evocative and entertaining view of the true spiritual path. Reminding us all that letting go and trusting is the key, he opened our minds to the concept that this state does not have to equal inaction, but instead we can experience a vitality and commitment to life that is truly pleasurable, being unhindered by our fear of all that's impermanent in our world and relationships.

Bearwood College provided an awesome and relaxing environment for us and gained the audience's vote for a return visit very soon, just like JC himself.

Nick Williams - Renaissance Man

On a balmy evening in early June we were thrilled to welcome the Inspired Entrepreneur himself, Nick Williams, to a very warm Waterhouse Chamber!

As a Trustee and former Director of Alternatives, Nick's work has long been admired by the team so we were honoured he could join us and support our events here in Reading.

Nick shared nine simple and highly effective steps to encourage us to listen to our intuition and anchor those all too fleeting moments of inspiration about our 'dream jobs'.

Introducing the idea of portfolio working - or as he more poetically put it, the return of the 'Renaissance Soul'- the audience was clearly taken with the idea that 'a job for life' is an outdated concept. Nick invited us to seek variety and fulfillment from our working lives, challenge those voices of doubt that reside in all our minds and, with small steps, get back in touch with the work we were born to do.

A new angle on geometry

We were joined on Tuesday the 28th April by local author Karen L French, sharing her insight into the "Gateways to Heavens" - her recent publication on sacred geometry.

The attentive audience was enthralled with Karen's introduction to the principals of this truly multi-dimensional topic. Outlining the power and symbolism of basic shapes and their numerical properties she generated several ah-ha! moments as we realised the powerful effect geometry has on our environment, emotions and day to day lives.

The energy in the room, by the end of the evening, was well and truly charged!

All in the Mind?

David Hamilton gives his unique insight at The Town Hall, Reading.

A perfect beginning for Inspired Events! In his first appearance in Reading, Dr David Hamilton enthralled a sell out audience.

David, author of three books with Hay House, gave a talk on 'How your mind can heal
your body' to a packed house, with standing room only in the impressive Waterhouse chamber.

It was a huge success and Penny Jones, Director of Kanji Ltd, a local Direct Marketing Agency, endorsed the event by saying 'I can't tell you how fantastic it is to have an opportunity to hear these incredible speakers on our doorstep. The talk this evening was riveting and so informative I can't wait for the next one now!'

Commenting on the first night, Helen says 'Our main intention is to provide some answers and inspiration in these changing, uncertain times by bridging the gap between advances in science & the search for more meaningful lives, especially here in the suburbs.'

With the Town Hall as its primary venue, Inspired events is attracting credible and insightful speakers to present regular evening talks and weekend workshops.
